5 INRIA Partnership Research: joint works with: –universities –other research institutions as: –LIAMA (Beijing Academia of Sciences) –Microsoft Research –Alcatel-Lucent Bell joint works with partners from other fields: health, energy, environment, agriculture, transports… Transfer: 800 research contracts software licences (proprietary or open source) 96 spin-off companies created consortia involvement (W3C/ERCIM, Scilab, ObjectWeb…)

7 Created in research teams on 4 sites (Sophia Antipolis, Marseille, Montpellier and Bologna in Italy) in partnership (half of them) with CNRS, universities and engineering schools Three main scientific domains : –Computational Biology and Medicine –Ubiquitous Computing and Communications –Modeling, Simulating and Interacting with the real world Host of the European group ERCIM (European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics), which is itself the European host of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). 9 Budget 2010: 31 M€ including –22,5 M€ (state funding with 15 M€ for INRIA Civil Servant Salary) –8,5 M€ external funding (contracts, software licenses, etc.) 197 INRIA permanent staff (budgetary positions) –113 researchers and 84 staff support (ETA) 47 other permanent researchers staff (CNRS, Universities) 253 non permanents (PhD students, post-doctoral, engineers, from about 46 different foreign countries…) => A workforce of 500 persons with 380 scientists INRIA Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée
