Tech Prep Background  To serve the “forgotten half” of HS students  Integrate academic and technical learning  Career counseling and clear pathway  Expected college matriculation with 6-year plan  College credit in HS built into pathway

Background  Created 26 consortia to cover entire state  Composed of postsecondary, secondary, business/industry reps., community-based organizations, local workforce board reps.  Required activities Education plans with articulation & credit Education plans with articulation & credit Professional development Professional development Career exploration activities Career exploration activities

Background  160,000 secondary students (13.5%)  60,000+ postsecondary students  94% ISDs participating  100% public two-year colleges  If all graduating seniors in 2005 had taken advantage of college credit earned it would have been equivalent to $31M in scholarships (+$31M in savings to the State)
