District Mission To provide every student with a top-of-the-line college preparatory education so that they can enter and succeed in the college or university of their choice.

Phil Daro –Currently serves on the mathematics work group of the Common Core State Standards Initiative. –Senior Fellow for Mathematics of America’s Choice –Served as Executive Director of the Public Forum on School Accountability –Directed the New Standards Project, and managed research and development for the National Center on Education and the Economy –Directed large-scale teacher professional development programs such as the California Mathematics Project and the American Mathematics Project. –Member of the Shell Centre at the University of Nottingham.

Question 1 What is your overall evaluation of each program and your impressions about how the materials support student learning?

Question 2 For both programs, discuss the tasks students were asked to do in the classroom and how effectively they promoted student engagement and high levels of mathematical thinking.

Question 3 For both programs, discuss how the materials promote high expectations and strong support for all students and how resources are provided to support struggling students and students who are exceeding expectations. In addition, how does the program support English language learners, special education students and gifted students?
