Providing Funds to Our Fire Departments

Fire Recovery USA provides funds to fire departments at no cost to the department. We bill and collect money on your behalf, for the services you provide during an MVA or fire (vehicle or structure).

Our Billing Process 1.Your department responds to a motor vehicle accident. 2.When you return to the station, you complete our Run Sheet on paper or on-line. It takes only minutes to complete. 3.You submit to us via fax or our secure on-line system. 4.You can track each Run on our website 24/7. Many types of reports are available for printing. 5.We process, bill, and collect the claim.

Since we typically do not bill residents (unless requested by the fire department), there is virtually no backlash from citizens against the local fire departments. We’ve developed three billing categories which allows you to customize how we bill for a local department/government. This allows some departments to bill within a regulated environment that discourages cost recovery services.

These three types of service are classified as: Accident Response Service Fees BLS – Basic Life Support Fees Accident Clean-up Fees Accident Response Service Fees BLS – Basic Life Support Fees Accident Clean-up Fees

So what makes us different? Anybody can send out a bill, and in fact, some fire departments do in-house billing. The main problem is they typically have a recovery rate of between percent. This is because insurance companies are experts at not paying and the typical fire department or city is not equipped in the field of insurance collections. Compared to a fire department’s in-house program, we use more advanced collection methods and have a much higher recovery percentage - typically over 60% - the highest we’ve seen in our industry.

Another area that we’re unique is our ability to track down the necessary information of those persons involved in the incidents. A high percentage of the information provided at the scene of an MVA is incomplete, expired, or falsified. While anybody can make a few phone calls, this has proven to be fairly unfruitful. We, however, have investigative techniques (both live and software-based) that allow us to find most individuals and the necessary facts. We believe that this is our responsibility and not the fire department’s. When you employ our billing service, you will enjoy not only our excellent customer service and training, but also know you have the highest collection percentages current technology can provide.

There is no up-front cost to you as we only take a portion of the money we recover for you as our fee – there are no other costs to you whatsoever. Important Facts In most instances, local taxpayers are paying for fire departments to respond to accidents caused by non-tax paying citizens. Recent studies have shown that between 30-70% of accidents involve non-residents of a fire district (varies by location and traffic volume). Tax dollars should provide funding for the basic services required to operate a fire department for “fire protection”, not subsidize the expenses resulting from automobile accidents. Automobile insurance exists for that purpose.

Important Facts Many fire departments are being forced to reduce their staff size or alter their spending patterns due to budget constraints. Many are even restricted from purchasing much needed equipment or technology because of the drain on resources caused by emergency responses. These facts indicate there are fire departments and communities whose safety is compromised because of their fire department’s on-going need to respond to motor vehicle accidents.

What are the benefits to the Fire Department? Billing Brings Funds NOW! Better Equipment and Technology Ensure a safer environment by purchasing newer and better equipment Purchase newer technology that will assist in protecting your community and staff Help with the costs of maintaining equipment Staff Benefits Help prevent job cuts due to budget restraints Allow for more training Assist with wage restrictions & benefit restrictions Benefits to the Community Help relieve the tax burden Provides a more equipped department to protect the community at whole
