What is the Literacy in CTE Enrichment Program?  5-Week Literacy Intervention to help lower level readers become proficient readers  Our Literacy Teacher, Mrs. Arnold, works with students in large groups (10-12 students) for four 50-minute sessions. ○ Students retake the SRI on the 5th session. ○ Students who have become proficient return to class.  Students who are not reading at grade-level after the 5 th session continue to work with Mrs. Arnold individually or in small groups and will retest after 4 more sessions

How the Literacy in CTE Enrichment Program Works  Identify students that are reading below grade level through SRI pretest, which assesses a Lexile score  Students below grade level are broken into 2 categories Regular Education ○ Mrs. Arnold, English and Literacy Teacher Special Needs ○ Mrs. Weaver, Special Services Teacher  All current data is based on Regular- Education students working with Mrs. Arnold

What is the Curriculum?  Group Component (First 5 Sessions) USA Today Online Newspaper ○ Has CTE focus, so it allows students to maintain reading articles relating to their CTE field ○ Has assessments, which can target areas of reading in which students are struggling ○ Has lessons and tools, which are transferable to any subject  Individual Component (Last 5 Sessions) Mrs. Arnold works with students individually to best help them based on individual needs
