GPISD CTE Early College High School WELCOME CLASS OF 2019!

What is an Early College High School (ECHS)? A partnership between Galena Park ISD and San Jacinto College North. Gives students a head start on the rest of their lives! Allows students to earn both a high school diploma and an associate degree or a certificate of technology (up to 60 college hours) FREE!

What is GPISD’s CTE Early College High School? Open in August of 2015 High School located at the San Jacinto College North Campus Students take high school courses along with college courses

Who Can Attend GPISD CTE ECHS? 8th Grade students will apply Must pass the Reading STAAR at 1st administration Must have no drug related discipline Student must have good attendance As of January 2014 – 64 across the state. More opened up in Aug 2014 and more will open in Aug. 2015

Who Can Attend GPISD CTE ECHS? Student must have the desire and determination to attend college Parental support A lottery will be used to select students from those eligible (125 students maximum) As of January 2014 – 64 across the state. More opened up in Aug 2014 and more will open in Aug. 2015

Benefits for the Students Students will graduate with both a high school diploma and an Associate of Applied Science Students will have certification so the student is ready to enter the workforce upon graduation

Benefits for the Students Students will be part of a smaller school Students will not have to pay for the Dual Credit classes, textbooks, required supplies, etc.

CTE ECHS is a Galena Park ISD High School Offer free/reduced breakfast and lunch Bus transportation provided Principal and staff
