Florida Linkage Institutes: Securing International Students in-state tuition Ramona RW Kirsch, Director

What is it? Florida Legislature created International Linkage Institute Program To assist in the development and promotion of Commercial Educational Social exchanges between Florida and foreign countries. Florida statutes authorizes Up to 25 tuition exemptions of all or part of non-resident tuition portion Exemptions total for ALL Florida community colleges and state universities Exemptions total per academic year in Florida.

W Countries in the Florida International Linkage Institute Program Florida – Brazil Florida – France Florida – Canada Florida – Israel Florida – Caribbean Florida – Mexico Florida – China Florida – Japan Florida – Costa Rica Florida – West Africa Florida – Eastern Europe The Linkage Institutes are jointly administered by: one or more state universities in partnership with a state community college linked to counterpart institutions in the selected countries

Who is eligible? Current F-1 Visa student at Florida system college or university Citizen of one of the countries eligible for the exemption NOTE: Awards are not automatic; each institute has established criteria for awarding Award may be full exemption (up to 15 credits) or for lesser amount of credits. Recipients are still responsible for the in-state portion of tuition. Important condition of acceptance: students must commit to returning home after their tenure study for a length of time equal to their exemption period.

How Do Students Apply? Student must contact the Linkage Institute Director for his/her country of origin. Linkage Institutes are established with selected countries only.
