Morphological feature of Gobiidae, Bothidae and Anguillidae By: Ky Vannarith Chaktomuk Fisheries Administration Inspectorate, Phnom Penh

Family :Anguillidae Sampling Position: West Kalimantan, Indonesia Sampling Gear:Bongo net Stage :Post flexion Body elongate compressed and transparent with small head. Gut is chart, suitable about 30-40% of body length, caudal fin are present. No pelvic, dorsal fin and anal fin long, tail moderate to blunt.

Measurements :Body Length 33.8 mm Head Length 2.85 mm ED0.52 mm PAL1.56 mm BD1.25 mm Counts :C 10 Myomeres 140(48+92) Pigmentation : no Head Spination : no

Order Perciformes are more species in South China Sea. Family Gobiidae have 4 subfamilies: Subfamily Gobiinae have 10 genus - Genus : Acentrogobius, Amoya, Aulopareia, Bathygobius, Favonigobius, Exyrias, Glossogobius, Gobiopsis, Istiogobius, Mahidolia. Subfamily Gobionellinae have 13 genus - Genus : Awaous, Brachygobius, Calamiana, Gobiopterus, Mugilogobius, Oligolepis, Oxyurichthys, Pseudogobiopsis, Pseudogobius, Redigobius, Rhinogobius, Stenogobius,Stigmatogobius. Subfamily Oxudercinae have 7 genus - Genus : Apocryptodon, Boleophthalmus, Oxuderces, Parapocryptes, Periophthalmodon, Pseudapocryptes, Scartelaos. Subfamily Amblyopinae 4 genus - Genus : Brachyamblyopus, Caragobioides, Taenioides, Trypauchen.

Gobiidae Sampling Position:West Kalimantan Indonesia Sampling Gear :Bongo net Stage :Post Flexion The body rather elongate, mouth is small and oblique, eyes are round, anus suitable around the middle of body length, gut is straight and curve, air bladder is appear, the two separate dorsal fin but the first dorsal fin still undeveloped, pectoral fin are well developing. There are pigment spot along dorsal surface of trunk.

Measurements : Body Length 6.30 mm Head Length 1.65 mm ED 0.40 mm SnL0.40 mm PAL3.20 mm BD0.90 mm Counts :D: 11 A: 12C: 12 Myomeres 27(10+17) Pigmentation : at location of first dorsal fin Head spination: no

Family Bothidae is in the suborder Pleuronectoidei along with the Pleuronectidae, Achiridae and Cynoglossidae. Bothids are bottom fishes. Juveniles and adults have both eyes located on one side of the body, generally on the left side. In Bothids the eye migrates through a slit or hole, which forms below the anterior base of the dorsal fin. Bothids larvae are bilaterally symmetrical and have an extremely laterally compressed body. The larvae are generally relatively large (SL = 120 mm Fukui 1997)

Bothidae Sampling Position:Andaman sea (BIMSTEC) Sampling Gear:Bongo net Stage :Post flexion The body are compressed, large head, small mouth, maxilla locate in frond of eyes, the gut is coil and suitable about 30-35% of body length, the spine at the chit rum, the first ray of dorsal fin are short and second ray are elongate.

Measurements:Body Length 7.90 mm Head Length 2.20 mm ED 0.50 mm SnL 0.80 mm PAL 3.70 mm BD 3.80 mm Counts:D: 73 A: 54C: 13 Myomeres 37(10+27) Pigmentation: no Spination
