Improving of Intraspecific Polymorphism Potential of Species Gossypium L. genus and Revealing of Opportunities of Their Practical Use Head of the Project: Academician Abdullaev Abdumavlon Abdullaevich Academy of Sciences of Republic of Uzbekistan Institute of Genetics and Plant Experimental Biology

THE PROJECT PURPOSE: Development of intraspecific classification of polymorphic species of genus Gossypium L. (G.hirsutum L. and G.arboreum L.), studying morphogenesis process, character of variability and inheritance of separate economic valuable traits at hybrids of the first both the subsequent generations and development on their basis of new perspective forms and sources of such valuable traits as earliness, high productivity and fiber quality, adaptable potential of resistant to diseases and pests.

THE PROJECT TASKS: For improvement existing and development of new highly productive and in a complex resistant cultivars use of a valuable germplasm of wild, ruderal and cultural-tropical forms of polymorphic species of genus Gossypium L is necessary. The primary goal of the project is studying and decision of questions at issue of differential intraspecific classification of polymorphic representatives of genus Gossypium L. (G.hirsutum L., G.arboreum L.), and also definition of their phylogenetic relations intra- and interspecific categories and connection of these parameters with efficiency of use in a breeding practice. Revealing biological and an economic value of separate representatives and an opportunity of successful involving in breeding programs yet not used germplasm sources on the basis of intra- and interspecific hybridization, experimental polyploidy.

EXPECTED RESULT AND EFFECT FROM THE PROJECT : The actual material received a result of research, will be used for the decision of questions at issue of systematization and introduction, genetics and breeding, considerably will expand an arsenal of knowledge of an intraspecific biodiversity of representatives of species G.arboreum L. and G.hirsutum L., that will facilitate development of methods of involving valuable germplasm of wild-growing forms in a genome of cultivated ones. The received perspective forms will enrich the cotton genepool with new synthetic genetic resources and will be of interest not only for domestic, but also foreign geneticists and breeders.

PROSPECTIVE ACTIONS OF THE PROJECT : Selection of an initial material, organization of laboratory and field experiences, work on intra- and interspecific hybridization, reception of hybrid materials. Studying and an estimation morphobiological and economic valuable traits of initial and hybrid forms. Studying morphogenesis process, character of variability and inheritance separate morphobiological and economic valuable traits at hybrids of the first and the subsequent generations. Representation of the annual scientific report and the publication of joint scientific articles by results of research.

BUDGET OF THE PROJECT Categories of chargesSum, US$ Total budget of the Project The given sum of the grant Operational expenditure (salary and other) Equipment Training Consultative services Other charges (business trips)25 000
