DNA COMENIUS EUROPEAN PROJECT IPSIA “Emilio Cavazza” - POMEZIA

DNA is nucleic acid conteins genetic informations necessary to correct functions of all organisms.

DNA is organic acid polymers, monomers called nucleotides Nucleotides are formed of three components: Deoxyribose, one nitrogenous base and phosphate group.

There are four types of nitrogenous bases: adenine cytosine thymine guanine

The discovery of DNA has been attributed to the swiss Scientist Friedrich Miescher. In 1919 he discovered nucleotide’s structure

Biotechnology based on the various changes that can be done on DNA to improve plants and animals, or develop organisms beneficial for man.

Many people think that biotechnology was born recently, but existes already for thousands of years Traditional biotechnologies Wine Beer New biotechnologies Antibiotics Modified animals Cloning
