HISTORY & ORGANIZATION OF THE CSPS

2 What & Who? Canadian Ski Patrol System A non profit corporation comprised of highly trained volunteer members The System was formed to promote safe skiing and to provide assistance to injured skiers.

4 Fédération Internationale des Patrouilles de Ski (FIPS) International organization of ski patrol groups from around the world FIPS founded in 1979 Help coordinate the exchange of information about patrolling CSPS was founding member and remain active in a leadership role

8 Board of Directors Member of the System in good standing Familiar with the organization of the System The number of Directors is currently eight (8) A person designated by the Board as the Principal Employee is an ex officio Director The other Directors are elected by the Zone Presidents for 2-year staggered terms Administers the affairs of the System

13 Patrol Leaders Appointed by the Zone President Responsibilities Operational efficiency Conduct of the members of his/her Patrol Maintenance of adequate hill coverage Local Patrol representative who is authorized to discuss hill, lift or Patrol operation with the resort management.

16 Requirements of Membership Comply with any and all registration procedures Successfully complete all required training and tests Remit all fees Medical personnel, while on duty for the System, are expected to act within the scope of practice of the CSPS The transfer of a member from one Zone to another is dependent on acceptance by the Zone President

17 How do I present myself? As a representative of the CSPS: Dress in a clean, complete uniform Speak appropriately Look professional Present as a person who takes pride in who they are and who they represent.
