Oahu Field Excursion 2010

During the Kauai Cadet Flight Oahu Field Excursion 2010, Kauai Cadet’s were able to experience things about the Cadet Program that were never thought possible! Including: 1.Getting the opportunity to fly on an Air Force C-17, even flying in the cockpit! 2.Viewing the Arizona Memorial, Cadets were able to experience a sight that changed the world. 3.Visiting the “Wet ‘n Wild” Water Park and other recreational / bonding areas such as the Ala Moana Mall. 4.Touring Honolulu & Hickham AF Base on the way to destinations. 5.Getting towed up to 2500 FT. and flying down in CAP Gliders. OVERVIEW

“ Flying in a C-17 is an opportunity that everyone should get, it was amazing and inspiring and all of our cadets were ecstatic about the whole experience. “ – C/SMSgt D. Auth FLYING IN THE C-17’S!

Some Cadets were even able to ride in the cockpit of the C-17, right behind the Pilot and the Co-Pilot. The Cadets sincerely appreciated that the pilots and crew gave them the opportunity to do that. MORE C-17

Cadets that attended the excursion had the opportunity to soar up to heights of 2500 ft. in our Civil Air Patrol Gliders. Not only that, but they had the chance to help pre-flight, and learn how to inspect the gliders before take-off. GLIDERS & MORE

Cadets that attended the excursion were given brief chances to view the Arizona Memorial, offering many a moment of reflection and silence in honor. ARIZONA MEMORIAL

From riding in the C-17’s to visiting the Water Park and Ala Moana, the Cadets that attended our excursion were able to learn a lot, have fun, and renew their interest in CAP. FUN, FUN, AND MORE FUN!

2010 OAHU EXCURSION In closing, the trip was an amazing experience that the Cadets of Kauai Flight HI-073 will not soon forget. On behalf of all of our Cadets, a big thanks for putting together the trip. So much was learned, and so much was gained; it is clear that a trip like this can truly strengthen the bonds of a Squadron, and it most certainly has.
