 Determined that bending stress is greatest at D (σ d = 10.5 kpsi)  For 12L14 steel: ◦ S y = 60 kpsi ◦ S e = 31.1 kpsi (calculated)  With given load, the part has infinite life (σ d < S e ) and does not yield (σ d < S y )  Safety Factor 2.96 for endurance limit  Safety Factor 5.7 for yield
