Research History of Bicycles Improvements done to meet needs - Change in Materials - Size of tires - Creation of the pedals - Addition of brakes - Addition of bearing to be able to move the axels
Project Facilitator My PF is Jack Bayer How he helped me: - Knowledge about Bicycles/bikes - He has a major on Engineering - Great Time Management skills -Knows Tools/Equipment extremely well
The Product My product its an old 1964 vintage Huffy Huffy made their first bike in 1982 It is an American Company
Beginning of the Reconstruction
Taking bicycle apart All parts need to be taken down I used screw drivers, socket wrenches, adjustable wrench, screw gun, and a vise Took roughly about 5 to 6 hours
Taking Bearings From axels - Bearing holders holds 10 bearing - Bearing are located in pedal crank shaft, front metal tube, and wheels - 1 hour
Wire Wheeling It’s a process in which original paint is taking off Leaves only the metal It was a 9-11 hour process
Sanding the bare metal Used sand paper to smoothen the metal parts Used different grades of sand paper To improve feeling of the bicycle 4 hour process
Paint Bicycle Spray painted Bicycle Special outdoor paint/water proof Paint parts and let them dry 12 hour process
Putting Bicycle together Place parts together into main frame Place handlebars Wheel holder Axel for handlebar Seat 3 hours
Rebuilding Chain Many links were broken Rusted Lack of grease Not flexible 1 hour process
Putting bearing back into place Put the bearing the right way Make sure wheels and handle bar rotated Grease enough ball bearing 2 hour process
Final Product
Problems Project Facilitator ripped a muscle from his arm PF out for 2 months Finding the right parts Fixing Bearing Weather PF would not help me Cost of Project
What did I learn? Time Management Communication with more people Research for parts Management of money To not depend on others
Would I proceed with this as a future? Perhaps as a hobby Takes too much time and money
Conclusion 46 Hours total $246 dollars spent
