Some people like to ride on a bike, Pedalling from place to place, Some catch a bus without any fuss, But there ain’t no buses to outer space, so I built a rocket, honey, Took all my pocket money, Now I’m away to Mars, for I want to go exploring, Life here can get so boring, I’m off to see the stars.

Some people talk of liking to walk, Sometimes they jog or run, Others explain the thrill of a train But there ain’t no stations upon the sun, so I built a rocket, honey, Took all my pocket money, Now I’m away to Mars, for I want to go exploring, Life here can get so boring, I’m off to see the stars.

Space crew flying free, Out in space where the planets do roll Tell me what you see In space where the planets do roll. Shooting stars, satellites, Asteroids, meteorites, We’ve seen wondrous sights They roll and roll, roll and roll,

Space crew dressed in blue, Out in space where the planets do roll Tell me what you do In space where the planets do roll. Steer our ship, check the dials, Try to while away the miles, Dream of friendly smiles They roll and roll, roll and roll,

My friend’s orange with a long green nose His teeth are yellow and arranged in rows He comes from a planet where the blue grass grows But inside he’s just like me. So what? So what, so what? Who cares how many eyes he’s got? He’s my friend and I like him a lot, So what, so what?

My friend's orange with a big bald head, His feet are furry and his eyes are red. He can’t say his name so I call him Fred But inside he’s just like me. So what? So what, so what? Who cares how many eyes he’s got? He’s my friend and I like him a lot, So what, so what?

Now you are going to be divided into 3 groups. Space , where the planets do roll   Create a short percussion piece to portray the imaginary sounds you might hear on a strange planet. Remember to have a start, middle and end. Different people should play at different times. IDEAS: dawn on the planet – strange insects – trickling water – moaning wind creatures assemble and begin their daily work – imaginary jobs making things night falls and evening creatures are heard calling I built a rocket honey   Create some vocal sounds to show a rocket take-off. Start with low rumbling. Add buzzes, clangs and whistles as the rocket begins to vibrate You can add one or two of the percussion instruments if you like. Make sure you have have a massive roar as the rocket takes off. You might want to kneel, sit or stand to show the different stages of the take-off. Also, you might like to use hand and arm gestures. My friend’s orange   Make up some actions to show the different features of your friend. Be ready to show the rest of the group. It would be best to stand in two small lines of 10.
