December 7, 1941 “A day that will live in infamy.”

Headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet Its position helped protect the United States. As the Japanese military pressed its war in China, concern over Japan's intentions caused the U.S. to begin taking defensive measures. On February 1, 1933, the U.S. Navy staged a mock attack on the base at Pearl Harbor as part of a preparedness exercise. The attack "succeeded" and the defense was deemed a "failure".

Definition- a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force Japan has limited resources/raw materials Having colonies increased power and prestige among countries.

The Japanese wanted to expand throughout the Pacific Many western powers stopped selling oil, iron ore and steel to Japan in order to stop this expansion. Japan saw this embargo as an act of aggression.
