Lantern festival Written by 姿佑 and 致維

Lantern festival is on the fifteen day of the first lunar month. Because it’s in the last climax of Chinese New Year, everybody are all busy celebrating for this festival, so it’s also called “small Chinese New Year.”

Some activities…… Riddles and games : Before, people in china played Riddles and games in the temple. Now,we wrote riddles questions on the lanterns. Let everybody guess.

Some activities…… Eating glutinous rice balls: Glutinous rice balls mean peaceful. It is always made of glutinous rice outside and sesame inside.

Some activities…… Sky lantern: Sky lantern is also a important custom in Lantern Festival. On Lantern Festival, people will write some words on the sky lantern to ask the god to give them peace. Then, people will burn on the fire under it and put it on land. Suddenly, the sky lantern will go up into the sky and make the sky become brilliant and gorgeous on the Lantern Festival night.

Some activities…… Bee cannon: Bee cannon is just like another kind of fire cracker. It is taked place in Yan-shui. Before, people set off that special fire cracker to take away the disease. Now, people not only want to take away the disease, but also thinks that bee cannon is a special custom in Taiwan.
