Presentation transcript:

1453 the Turks attack using a specially made weapon

27 feet long cannon

Made of bronze

Weighs 20 tons As much as 10 cars!

30 inch diameter barrel Big enough for a grown man to crawl into!

Uses a 1,500 pound stone cannonball

Requires an operating crew of 200 men

Takes 150 pound of powder to fire

Can hit a target more than a mile away.

The intense heat created by the blast means the cannon can only be fired once every 3 hours.

Despite soaking the barrel in warm oil to prevent cold air from causing cracks, the cannon eventually split apart killing and wounding those nearest.
