Dairy Queen A novel written by: Catherine Gilbert Murdock

Wisconsin tomboy D.J. Schwenk Brian Friendship Romance Dairy Farm Football Drama

D.J. Schwenk Not the average girl. She is a tomboy, who likes to play football because she played with her older brothers when they were in school. Works a lot on the farm because her dad is injured but is flunking English. She decides to train a rival football player and as usual, falls in love with him.

Brian Nelson F ootball player from Hawley, the rival team. He needs training from D.J., so he helps her with farm work while she trains him.

What happens when…

Your dad gets hurt Your older brothers moved out already And you are the next oldest?

You have to take care of the farm all by yourself. That means more responsibilities but you still have to do your homework…

DJ Schwenk finally gets some help around the farm by a guy from Hawley named Brian Nelson.

In return, DJ gives Brian, a guy from a rival team to Red Bend, football lessons.

“When you don’t talk, there’s a lot of stuff that ends up not getting said.”

They fall in love while training but out of love when he discovers she is playing football against him…

“Yeah. Like what do you call it? Romeo and Juliet?”

There is another problem…

She is ineligible because of her English grade…

DJ gets her grade up to play football, but how does she do it?

Check out “Dairy Queen” from your local library to see how DJ accomplishes her goal of playing football.
