Field Setup Field Setup (6 stations) Separate large field into four equal “stations” using cones, and small field into two equal “stations” using cones Separate U8-U12 teams into 6 groups as follows: Create 2 mixed U8/U9 groups out of U8 and U9 teams Create 2 mixed U10 groups out of U10 Black and U10 Red teams Create 2 mixed U11/U12 groups out of U11 Black, U11 Red, and U12 teams Assign one coach to each “station” Each coach will run a game with the group in their “station” for approximately 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, groups will rotate clockwise (e.g. #1->2, 2->3, etc) to a new “station” Repeat until each group has participated in all stations ~40yds ~70yds Kent City FC ©

Station #1: Possession-Pass Game (15 min) Setup: 2-3 players to start as defenders will hold a pinny in their hand, and all others are attackers with no pinnies (~3/1 attacker/defender ratio) All balls next to coach on sideline at mid-field Attacking players spread out keeping triangle formations with each other Defending players start next to Coach Game: Coach will distribute ball to an attacking player, at which point defenders will try to clear ball out of playing area Play stops once ball leaves playing area or attacking team completes 5 passes (or more/less based on matchups) After play stops, rotate two new defending players Coaching: Encourage attacking players to move around with and without ball Encourage communication among attackers (“ball”, “man-on”, “drop” etc) If players hold ball too long (more than 3-5 seconds) start timing them out loud to encourage quicker release Variation: require 2-touch minimum, 3-touch, 1- touch, etc. Kent City FC © yds 35yds

Station #2: Round Robin (15 min) Setup: 2 cones separated about 2 yards apart on the mid point of each side 2 (or more) players line up between cones on each side (if less than 8 players in group, reduce to 3 sides instead of 4) 2 groups start with a ball (2 balls total in game) Game: Simultaneously, each player with a ball will come in front of pair of cones and pass ball counter-clockwise to first player in next group Player that just passed will then follow pass and get in line in the next group they just passed to Player receiving the pass will turn and pass the ball counter-clockwise to the first player in the next group Play continues until one ball catches up with the next or until the coach says stop If one ball catches up with the next, the players that were in the group that got “caught” will do 5 frog-jumps. Reverse direction of game Coaching: Make sure players receive ball with inside, hips facing incoming ball, and rotate to pass ball with inside of opposite foot Variation: require communication “ball!” from receiving player before passing player passes the ball 20yds 35yds Kent City FC © 2015

Station #3: Combat (15 min) Setup: Separate players into 2 teams (one team wearing pinnies) Teams line up at one end of field in two lines All balls next to coach on opposite end of field Game: Coach will distribute a ball either on ground or in-air somewhere on the field and call out number of players from each line Call “1” and 1 st plyer from each line comes out Call “2” and first 2 from each line for 2v2 etc... Players called from each team try to win the ball, and will have to pass (not shoot) the ball to the coach within the playing field The coach, after distributing the ball, will position themselves somewhere in the playing area, and not move until the ball is passed to them successfully (vary the location each turn) Coaching: Encourage communication “ball!”, “man-on”, “drop”, etc., when in 2v2 situations Distribute ball in air and ground 20yds 35yds Kent City FC © 2015

Station #4: Combo-Passing Game (15 min) Setup: Divide players into two teams, each team a different color All balls next to coach on sideline at mid-field Players line up in (or similar) formation One player from each team in their “end-zone” Ball starts when one of the players in the “end-zone” passes ball to teammate Game: To score, players have to pass the ball from one “end- zone” to the player in the other “end-zone” “End-zone” players cannot leave zone, but can move around within it If ball goes out of bounds, ball starts in “end-zone” of team that did not touch ball last When one team scores, ball is put back into play by receiving player in “end-zone” Field players cannot enter either “end-zone” Rotate players in “end-zone” occasionally Coaching: Encourage communication “ball!”, “man-on”, “drop”, etc. Variation: have players “mark” a player on the opposite team, and only defend them (players on opposite teams don’t necessarily have to mark each other, so if player A marks player B, it doesn’t mean player B has to mark player A) Kent City FC © yds 35yds

Station #5: Target Passing Game (15 min) Setup: Make four 2yd x 2yd boxes on field using cones, 1 in each corner of field Put one player in each box that will act as “passers” All balls next to coach on sideline at mid-field 3 players holding pinnies start on sideline and act as “defenders” The remaining players line up behind cone on opposite sideline of “defenders” as shown Game: One of the “passers” in a box starts with the ball On coaches signal, one of the players on the sideline runs into the middle of the field and calls for “ball” from the passer who has the ball At the same time, the defenders provide pressure and try to block passing lanes and intercept the ball The “passer with the ball passes to the player calling for “ball” If the player receives the ball, they then try to pass the ball to another “passer” in a different box, and the play is over If a “defender” intercepts the ball, the play is over When play is over, the player replaces a “defender”, that “defender” replaces the “passer” that initially passed the ball, and that “passer” gets in line The coach signals a new player to enter the field and call for “ball” and a different “passer” passes the ball Kent City FC © yds 35yds Coaching: Encourage communication “ball!”, “man-on” Players cannot pass back to the “passer” that originally gave them the ball

Station #6: 2v1 (15 min) Setup: Put two cones at top of playing area and one at middle of bottom line as shown Make two goals out of different colored cones at bottom as shown Separate players in 2 halves, and put pinnies on half of them One half lines up as “defenders” on the bottom cone, with a ball at their feet The other half is “attackers” and is split into two groups, and line behind the top two cones Game: Ball starts at defender, and on coaches signal the defender passes the ball to one of the two attackers The attackers come off the cone and receive the ball The defender immediately tries to get the ball from the attackers after passing To score the attackers have to dribble the ball through one of the two goals at the bottom (no shooting) The round is over if the ball goes out of the playing area, or if the coach stops the play After the play, the attackers switch sides (left to right and vice versa), and the defender gets their ball back and gets back in the defender line After half the available time, the defender group and attacker group switch Coaching: Encourage combination passing plays (wall pass, give-and-go, overlapping run Encourage attacking players to come off the line (cone) to receive the ball rather than wait for it to get to them. Encourage communication “ball!”, “drop!”, etc, between attackers Variation: players pass to each other through goal to score instead of dribble through goal 20yds 35yds Kent City FC © 2015
