Berlin Airlift By Yun Kim

Cause of the Berlin Airlift  The Berlin Blockade is the first major cause of the Cold War. - Stalin was taking over eastern Europe and Czechoslovakia had just turned Communist. - The USA and the USSR had different aims for what they wanted to do to Germany.

The impact on Germany and Eastern Europe. The people of Germany and Eastern Europe had some problems so the western Europe and the US tried to rebuild the economy of Germany. But the USSR didn't want to rebuild Germany because their religion were different.

The countries that were involved The United States, Great Britain, France, and The USSR were involved in Berlin Airlift. Therefore, Germany was divided into 4 parts. The western part was controlled by the US, Great Britain, and France. The eastern part was controlled by the USSR.

Why Did Berlin Airlift called symbol of Cold War? Berlin Airlift was considered a symbol of the Cold War because it was arms race between democracy and communism. Democracy and communism were tried to get stronger so it made the Cold War more worse.

NATO and the Warsaw Pact the western Allies set up NATO as a defensive alliance against USSR. NATO countries surrounded the USSR and NATO helped western countries and the US very much. Flag of NATO

Gail Halvorsen He was one of many pilots in the Berlin Airlift. Halvorsen wanted to help children who were in the US part of Berlin. Halvorsen promised to wiggle the wings to identify himself, which led to his nickname "Uncle Wiggly Wings."

Why did the Airlift happened? The western part of Germany helped the eastern part of Germany by Airlift. They decided Airlift because the eastern part was very poor and also the eastern part of Germany did allow to come through land.

The role of the US played in this event American Government tried to keep peaceful world. The US Government supported the western Europe which was democracy. The US Government made a organization that called NATO.
