“Improving Ethics and Integrity of Aboriginal research by establishing a Yorta Yorta Community Ethics Advisory Group" Mr Peter Ferguson, Raelene Nixon, Dr Maddalena Cross Rural Health Academic Centre Shepparton (Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences)

The Rural Health Academic Centre (RHAC) is committed to Improving Ethics and Integrity of Aboriginal research by establishing a We are doing this in partnership with the Aboriginal Organisations on Yorta Yorta Country. “ Yorta Yorta Community Ethics Advisory Group”.

Aboriginal people are among the most highly researched in the country. We are in a position to assert the Aboriginal perspective on research and to have a voice in the research process. Emerging voices

Historically Western knowledge, has advanced into Aboriginal Peoples communities with little regard for the notions of Indigenous worldviews and philosophical frameworks that underpin the Aboriginal community life. Learning from Indigenous Knowledge From: yynac.com.au

Research where Aboriginal people control their own agenda, the spiritual and philosophical foundations provide the platform from which Aboriginal research activities should be considered.

Knowledge Context: The knowledge context of one culture cannot be fully understood by another.

.

The YYEAC will enable the interpretation of ethics to be considered from differing cultural perspectives.
