The Short Version Six Steps to a Revolution

Step One: Activity of Writers Writers begin to write books and other published works that state their dissatisfaction with the governing body(s). People often do not know how bad conditions are until someone tells them.

Step Two: Widespread Public Dissatisfaction During this time the dissatisfaction grows well beyond normal unhappiness to points of civil unrest. Protests Demonstrations People burn leaders’ pictures or dummies that look like leaders

Step Three: Concessions by ruling group Leaders take notice of the civil unrest and get worried. They try and give the people what they want, but the people just keep wanting more.

Step Four: Civil War In this stage there are generally two groups, those who remain loyal to the leaders (Loyalists): and the those who want to overthrow them (Revolutionaries). This is often the bloodiest part of the revolution

Step Five: Radicals take over Following the Revolution, the leaders of the revolutionaries often take control. Many times they become worried about being overthrown themselves and are more ruthless than the former government. Following the French Revolution many people lost their heads.

Step Six: Back to Normalcy The Radicals are replaced by Moderates Revolutionary ideals begin to be adopted by the new government Basically it goes back to the way it was before. The names of the rich change (top 3%), but everyone else goes pretty much back to where they were before.
