let’s talk about … importing –camera – cable – computer –memory cards & readers SD, SDHD, CF, etc. organizing Mac or PC? file by date, or category … new search-based storage managing –keep it neat and tidy  Session 4 = editing and improving

organizing there are two levels of organization –1) the filename –2) the folder name –by date year-month-day (yyyy-mm-dd) –ex »Pro: stores photos chronologically »Con: –by event folders named by an event description –ex. trip to Ontario »Pro: searchable »Con: –by subject

managing keep your folders neat and tidy –choose a system, and stick to it delete duplicates –keep only the best of a certain shot back’em up! –external hard drive (1TB = 1000GB  $100) –online database (10GB = $10/year) –DVD (100 x 4.7GB = $20) share –print, , facebook
