IEEE Global Standards Search IEEE New Initiative

Phase 1 (months 1-6) IEEE will create, launch and maintain an informational service that provides users with searchable lists and links to all available opportunities worldwide to learn about technical standards, with access and introduction to all on-line resources and descriptions of all educational programs that are deemed credible and active. The service will be in the form of a portal that describes what standards are, review and provides links to all international technical standard organizations, and lists in a searchable mode these organizations, as well as all known educational programs and resources offered worldwide about standards. The portal will provide links to key documents and introductory tutorials. 5/20/20152

Phase 2 (months 7-24) The service will provide searchable opportunities to find technical standards in IEEE’s fields of interest by topic, keyword, and/or standard name/number. It would cover, to the extent practicable, all pertinent standards available on-line from recognized standardization bodies. The portal will be modeled after and will be a massive generalization and expansion of Goal is for all educational opportunities and all available standards in IEEE’s fields of interest to be accessible from one portal. 5/20/20153

The Audience Part One: The portal provides all information available worldwide on educational opportunities about Standards, with strong emphasis on programs that are available on line. –The primary audience for this part of the portal is educators and students at the university level, however there is also a secondary audience - individuals who are in the workforce - like practicing engineers - who may want to educate themselves about standards. Part Two: Standards search. This part is focused on practicing engineers (primary audience) and the education community (secondary audience). 5/20/20154
