CMDI Virtual Language Observatory Faceted Browsing Patrick Duin Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics 2011

Purpose/Use Cases  Allow faceted browsing based on cmdi metadata. Provide simple and easy access to resources Faceted Browsing: Intuitive searchable and browse-able interface, based around facets. Facets are aspects of the data that is searchable:

Faceted Browser in VLO

Issues  Based on IMDI metadata not CMDI  Cannot get to resources quickly  Very unstable and slow

New VLO Faceted Browser  Data analyzed is CMDI format  Currently IMDI, OLAC and LRT cimdified metadata  Stability issue solved and performance improved  You can get to resources directly from search results
