Using Lexiles in the Classroom Selecting Materials that Target Your Students

ODE Main Page: Click Teachers

Teacher Page Access Searchable Standards Click here

Access Searchable Standards 1. Select a Subject 2. Choose a Strand 3. Select a Grade and click Search

Locate the Standard 1. Scroll down to view standards 2. Highlight and copy appropriate standard(s)

Filling In the Template 4. Customize the template (title, grade, specific content area) 3. Paste standard(s) into template

Select English/Language Arts Grade-Level Standards Click here

Select Your Grade-Level Choose Word or RTF only

Locate Appropriate Standards 1. Scroll to find standard 2. Highlight and copy standard

Paste Standard into Template 3. Paste into template

To Remove Shading Go to Format, Borders and Shading, click on the Shading tab Select No Fill and click OK

Template The shading has been removed

Repeat this Process Continue to paste standards Enter the Lexile range for your class

Enter Your Textbook Enter text you currently use

Finding Lexiled Articles Now let’s search OSLIS for Lexiled articles

Select Database(s) and Conduct Search

Search Results

Select Resource and Copy Highlight selected resource and copy

Insert Resource into Template Paste resource into template and remove extra wording Insert Database(s) and Lexile measure

Conduct a New Search Try different key words and Click Search

Search Results Highlight selected resource and copy

Repeat the Process Paste information into template
