1.3 Segments, Rays, Parallel Lines and Planes

Learning Target I can identify segments, rays, and parallel lines given geometric figures.

Segment – part of a line consisting of two endpoints and all points between them. Ray – part of a line consisting of one endpoint and all the points of the line on one side of the enpoint. (Direction is important)

Opposite Rays- two collinear rays with the same endpoint Opposite Rays- two collinear rays with the same endpoint. Opposite Rays always form a line.

Lets practice naming segments and rays (remember notation)

Khan Academy Geometry Points lines and planes Recognizing rays, lines, and line segments Get 5 in a row correct and show us Homework/Classwork Practice 1-3 #1-6, #14-19

Warmup Always, sometimes, or never Enter Room 195236 Answer questions with Always, sometimes, or never

Learning Target I can identify segments, rays, and parallel lines given geometric figures.

Parallel Lines – coplanar lines that do not intersect Skew lines – noncoplanar lines (they are not parallel and they do not intersect) Examples

Identify some parallel lines and some skew lines.

Parallel Planes – Planes that do not intersect EX
