Millennium Create Lists More information captured and displayed More display options More ways to target searches Improved input of Boolean criteria Edit records from Create Lists mode Add individual records to a review file Export option

More information captured and displayed

ADDITIONAL INFO CAPTURED BY MILLENNIUM CREATE LISTS Initials: creator, System, as well as owner Date / Time Created Created in character- based Create Lists

ADDITIONAL INFO DISPLAYED IN MILLENNIUM CREATE LISTS Status Record Type

Strategy of highlighted file shown on same screen ADDITIONAL INFO IN SAVED SEARCHES DISPLAY

SHOW INFO Record type Range Strategy used Sort criteria

CRITERIA SAVED FOR SUBSEQUENT USE Sorting criteria Listing criteria

More display options

Sort by Initials: a handy way to find YOUR files SORT BY ANY COLUMN

All, Complete, In Progress or Empty LIMIT VIEW BY STATUS OF REVIEW FILE

More ways to target searches

Range of records Review file Index range Advanced search MORE WAYS TO TARGET THE RECORDS SEARCHED

INDEX RANGE Fewer records examined, so file created more quickly and fewer system resources used For example: Range of barcode numbers to target a particular branch

ADVANCED SEARCH Can find data not easily found via Boolean criteria For example: Find misspelled words

New review file and its basis can be different record types

Attached Record Hopping Using a review file of bibs as the range, can create lists of one attached record type based on data from a different attached record type For example: You want to know what items have no price even though there are order records with prices

First, create a review file of BIBS, based on attached record data

Second, create another review file, storing the other attached record type, using the first review file as the range input

Limit by Scope Database Maintenance Options - Create BOOLEAN lists: scope during range –N: Retrieve all records in the database, regardless of their scope. –Y: Restrict the retrieved records to those within the current login's scope. –A: Offer a checkbox allowing the user to select a scoped or non-scoped results set. Must be using a scoped login

Create Lists: Limit by scope

Input of Boolean criteria

Fewer conditions required Group criteria

Use Existing Query: select the one you are re-doing Modify existing criteria

Edit records from Create Lists mode

Authorized users can edit records from the “Show Records” screen EDIT RECORDS

Add individual records to file

Lets you browse for a record and add to existing review file ADD RECORD TO FILE

Use any index to find the record to be added ADD RECORD TO FILE

Export Records

Select fields, delimiter criteria, file name Save directly to workstation Browse workstation

One More Tip

Admin  Settings: Create Lists Options for Create Lists Searching –Don’t wait for searches to complete (default) –Wait for searches to complete –Prompt to wait for searches to complete (if no licenses available) Use when user licenses are scarce. Prevents user from using multiple licenses by running a list and doing other work.

Admin  Settings: Create Lists

Wait for search to complete

Improvements Planned for Release 2003 User interface improvements –Navigation around dialogs –Consistency in dialogs –Focus issues Saved searches for all record types Printing without truncation Validation of input for Item Type, Patron Type, etc.

Thank you! Claudia Conrad Product Manager, Cataloging
