Background Information Theodore Roosevelt was born in 1858 At 18 he entered Harvard College After leaving Harvard he studied in Germany Immediately after he entered politics Elected to the Assembly of New York Held position for three years William Howard Taft was born in 1857 Attended Yale University Later on attended law school Taft served as U.S. Solicitor General After he became Governor of Philippines Secretary of War

Compare Both lost to Woodrow Wilson Both championed workers rights and trust busting-the dissolution of corporate monopolies Hindered healthy competition and kept prices artificially high Progressive reformers Both Republicans
