Back in 2007…
Core Objectives Address the under utilisation of existing neighbourhood sports / play facilities in the Galliagh and surrounding area. Reduce levels of vandalism of the pitches due to quads, bikes, cars, anti social behaviour. Encourage community ownership of the facilities and increase the community/neighbourhood use of the facility all year round. Implement active ongoing management of the facilities thus ensuring the viability of the Leafair site. Develop a sustainable and viable community leisure/sporting/ recreation facility. Improve the health and lifestyles of people in the local community and build a strong community spirit. Help to accommodate the current and future needs of local residents / groups, and potential visitors who are / will utilise the sport and play facilities at Leafair
Achievements to date 1. Erection of Security Fencing 2. Redevelopment of Leafair Play Park 3. Extension to Car Park 4. New lighting for Play Park 5. New 3 G Pitch and Floodlights 6. SLA from DCC to LCA on the day to day management of the facilities

Results of Consultation process Respondents: 82 individuals & 46 organisations (62 male & 65 female cover all age groups) 127/128 agreed with the need to redevelop and modernise the facility Between 123 to 126 individuals agreed with all the proposals (over 96%)
