 “In 1948, the World Health Organization wanted parameters to measure the functionality of an individual. The first three identified parameters include the physical, the social, and the mental constructs. Later, the emotional, spiritual, and environmental dimensions were added to the list.”

 Health: a dynamic, ever-changing process of achieving individual potential in each of the following dimensions  Wellness: the achievement of the highest level of health in each dimension

 Proper nutrition  Exercise  Avoidance of harmful habits, such as smoking or alcohol abuse.  Annual check ups at the doctor

 Group Work  What are the characteristics of your assigned dimension  Provide a traditional, preventative, and wellness approach example

 Expressing emotions in a healthy way  Form healthy relationships with others  Learn to control emotions like sadness, anger, or frustration.  Find healthy outlets to deal and express your emotions

 Having a purpose in life and feeling that life is meaningful  Morals  Ethics  Values/Beliefs

 Maintain healthy relationships  Try to learn ways to relate well with others such as, family members, coworkers, or friends.  Practice communication skills

Even working a crossword puzzle each day can help to keep the mind active.
