NOW WHAT?

What does God want to happen because of this study?

Hebrews 12:1-2: “Therefore, (This “therefore” in 12:1 refers to all the Hall of Fame. In light of these examples of faith, what should we do?) since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of

witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author

and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Witnesses. What are they cheering for us to do?

1. Throw off anything that is slowing you down in the race of life.

2. Throw off sin that you have allowed to dwell in your life.

3. Run the race marked off for us.

4. Run toward Jesus. “author and perfecter.”

And what are our lives going to look like if we run this race toward Jesus daily?

Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

And what will we be doing if we run this race toward Jesus daily?

Matthew 22:36-38 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

And what will be our prize?

The prize we are running for is not Heaven. Heaven is already ours.

The prize we run for is the JOY that results from facing God in Heaven and receiving our blessing for a faithful life here on earth.
