Staff Duty Analysis Minnesota Leadership Academy Basic Cadet Officer Course

What's Inside the The things that are included inside of the are as follows: –Introduction on what the manual will cover –Instruction for cadets on how to properly complete a SDA –Instructions for the commanders and leadership officers on how to correct and score SDAs

Objectives: By the end of this module you will be able to: Discuss what is inside of Outline the correct format of an SDA Discuss what is accomplished by completing an SDA Know where to look to find the information to complete an SDA

Emphasis on each SDA Each SDA that you complete will have a different emphasis on a staff position within the squadron. It can be anything from flight commander to cadet commander.

Staff Duty Analysis The staff duty analysis (SDA) that you complete as a cadet are equally as challenging as senior specialty track training. The main objectives of the SDA are: –Improve critical thinking skills –Improve communication skills –Comprehend leadership and teamwork

How Do They Improve Critical Thinking Skills?? Improve Critical Thinking Skills: When you identify problems and give solutions to them you use your basic technical knowledge of that specialty

How Do They Improve Communication Skills?? Improve Communication skills: You become a better communicator when you PRACTICE active listening and describing in oral and written briefings on certain staff positions, duties, and procedures.

Improve Your Pirate Communication Skills

How Do They Help Us Comprehend Leadership And Teamwork?? Comprehend leadership and teamwork: –When you explain how senior and cadet staff operate together and add value to the squadron as a whole and by describing the qualities needed by leaders who succeed in that staff position.

2) Write SDA Report, Part B The Narrative What are the Essential Duties of Position? How Does Position Help Squadron Fulfill it’s mission? How Does Position affect Cadets/Cadet Program? What Leadership Skills Does The Staff Officer Need Most to Succeed?

3) Staff Service Serve in a staff position at least once per Phase Review SDA Discuss Position Requirements and Procedures with Staff Person Perform Tasks Associated with Position

Discussion Discuss how SDAs are implemented in your squadron. Does your Squadron have enough people to fill all of the SDA positions? Refer to CAPP and identify the SDA requirements for each cadet staff position. Which SDAs relate to each cadet staff position?
