This project was supported by Grant Nos.2006-DD-BX-K013, 2007-DD-BX-K094 and 2009-DG-BX-K019 awarded to American University by the Bureau of Justice Assistance. The Bureau of Justice Assistance is a component of the Office of Justice Programs, which also includes the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the National Institute of Justice, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the Office for Victims of Crime. Using Data To Improve Performance For sometime correctional administers have collected and used information about the inmate population and their needs to plan, design and manage their facilities. It has become clear to us that collecting and sharing this information with the courts and other law enforcement agencies can benefit everyone

Jail Population Snapshot Our report provides a snapshot of the jail’s population on one day (December 8, 2010) This information can be used as a possible management tool to evaluate operational productivity
