Young Amelia  In 1897 Amelia Earhart was born in Kansas.  Amelia loved to play in her yard and loved to learn.  She helped as a nurse in a hospital in World War I.  She met pilots from World War I and she loved airplanes.

Amelia’s first flight!  In 1920 the air show was in California and Amelia went to it. She flew in an airplane for the first time.  She loved to fly.

Her Pilot License  Amelia got her pilot’s license in1921.  She was the first lady passenger to fly across the Atlantic Ocean.

Where she flew & how she flew  1928 – flew across the United States and back  1932 –flew across the Atlantic Ocean  flew across the Pacific Ocean  Amelia made all these flights alone.
