5 Preferred Supplier of Quality Statistics SIC and CPC background The Standard Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities (SIC 5 th edition) -based upon the International Standard Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities (ISIC ver 3) with suitable adaptations for local conditions. (6 th edition based on Ver. 3.1 not implemented) The SIC was designed for the following: - To classify according to kind of economic activity and - Provide a standardised framework for: Collection, Tabulation, Analysis, and Presentation of statistical data on establishments - To promote uniformity and comparability of statistics compiled from different sources The CPC ver 1.1 was adopted as it was.
