RUNWAY INCURSION PREVENTION & CREW ALERTING SYSTEM (RIPCAS) Ing. Roberto Gatti
RIPCAS – Main Concepts Very precise detection of vehicles/airplanes moving through the detection area Very powerful signaling system based on high intensity red flashers Reliable and proven control logic able to properly read the data coming from the sensors, process the data and generate, in case of unauthorized crossing, the immediate local alarm, alerting the crew and the TWR (via ALCMS system).
RIPCAS - Detection & EU Regulations 24GHz PRC sensor AC 150/
RIPCAS Microwave Sensors The sensors are based on a transmitted and received microwave beam. Any change in the intensity of the beam on receiver side is processed in order to detect any crossing of the beam by vehicles and/or airplanes. 250 channels available (24.000GHz GHz) compliant to : ETSI EN ETSI EN R&TTE Directive (1999/5/EC) MIL-STD-461 (Emissions and Susceptibility)
RIPCAS – Microwave Sensors TxRx TxRx Region of detection The region of detection is designed to avoid any wildlife interference. A special antenna makes the beam very sharp and accurate. Center of the microwave beam to ground 1mWild life safe height 0.7m Wild life interference free area
