Answer 3 – 20 A parasite is an organism that lives inside or outside of an animal and feeds on the blood of the animal. Parasites can kill a pet or livestock animal if they are not properly treated or prevented. Examples of parasites include ticks, fleas, round worms and tape worms.

Question How do you control parasites in animals?

Answer 3 – 30 Livestock animals (beef, sheep, goats) should be dewormed using an oral or topical medication according to package instructions. Pets (dogs and cats) should be treated with flea and tick medication during the hotter months of the year every month. Check with a veterinarian to determine when your pets should be given a dewormer.
