Australia sent 1872 soldiers to Kuwait to defend from Iraq. Despite the Australians risking their lives there were no Australian deaths. However, there were 166 coalition losses lots of these deaths were by friendly fire.

The Gulf war took place in Kuwait/Iraq from The Gulf war started on the 2 nd of August 1990 and finished on the 28 th of February 1991.

The UN security gave Iraq a deadline to withdraw from the war, however Iraq decided to ignore this deadline and continue invading Kuwait. Due to the ignorance of the deadline, the UN security then commenced an aerial bombardment on Iraq which continued without respite until the war ended 43 days later. Kuwait then moved against Iraqi position in Kuwait and Iraq itself.
