VIRTUAL SEAT WAIVERS Tutorial Services and Area Districts

R ULES FOR V IRTUAL L EARNING 1. Board Approval 2. Method of Delivery: Must be online or written approval from Department of Education. 3. Teacher Facilitated Instruction 4. Academic Benchmarks 5. Grade Appropriate Assessments 6. District is required to pay an associated tuition charges

H OW WILL T UTORIAL S ERVICES H ELP WITH THE R ULES ? 1. We send a representative to the Board Meeting 2. We provide the online learning prgram CompassLearning Odyssey 3. We hire Certified Teachers in the District to monitor the students. 4. CompassLearning is aligned with all Michigan grade level benchmarks/common core standards. 5. We arrange for the students to take the state assessment exam. 6. We distribute computers to all students and pay for their internet access.

R EQUIREMENTS FOR S CHOOL C OUNT DAYS 1. The Student must be enrolled through the District. 2. The Student must “attend” on count day (logging into CompassLearning does count). 3. They must have a course specific class schedule 4. Must be in “attendance” 9 other days during the 30-calendar day count period. 5. Documented 2-way communication between student and teacher each week for the count month. 6. An on-site mentor must be assigned per student

H OW T UTORIAL S ERVICES WILL ASSIST WITH THE C OUNT D AYS. 1. TS will help with making sure the student is enrolled through the district. 2. We will monitor the count day and ensure each student is logged in that day. 3. TS will set up each student’s class to be a specific class schedule. 4. We will monitor that all students log in at least 9 days during the count period. 5. TS will document all communication the Teacher has with the students. 6. TS will assign a Certified District Teacher to be the onsite mentor.

W HAT D OES THE D ISTRICT HAVE TO P ROVIDE 1. We need a classroom for the onsite mentor/teacher to meet with the students once per week. a. This could be one classroom centrally located for all students to attend. 2. District needs to Hire a Certified Teacher a. TS will reimburse the school for the teacher’s pay or a set amount will be taken off of Tutorial Services’ FTE amount. 3. A way to reach out to all students who can benefit from this program.

W HAT WILL T UTORIAL S ERVICES P ROVIDE 1. We provide all equipment for the students, computer and internet connection. 2. We reimburse or take money off from the FTE for the teachers. 3. We provide all the training, documentation, etc. for the teachers. 4. We take care of all reports and documentation that needs to be sent to the state for monitoring purposes. 5. We monitor the students progress.

W HY CHOOSE T UTORIAL S ERVICES ? We have been around and helping students for over 8 years. We can prove that we have a record of helping students succeed. We will only be taking $ of each students FTE amount. This is less than 50% of the FTE.Tutorial Services does all the work. It’s a Win Win Situation! We help the students succeed and also bring in more money for the district.
