Presentation transcript:

 Page “A jeep started up.... Washington Irving’s name instead of my own”  Shows how the generals, officials, and officers lie to one another for one or another’s own benefit

 Page “Milo’s planes... can’t you see from my point of view”  Milo helps and aids the Germans even though he’s on the American side. Shows how he deceits the Americans and helps the Germans just so he himself can profit from his cartel business.  “... since Milo knew about the attack, he was able to alert the German antiaircraft gunners in sufficient time for them to begin firing accuratley the moment the planes came into range” (265)  “And the Germans are not our enemies” (266)  This also can be used for The Absurdity of Power theme because Milo has this vast empire of cartel food trading which he gets rich out of, and he’s mayor of so many towns to expand on how much power he has.

 Page “M & M Enterprises verged... reimburse the government at all”  Milo deceits his own people and army again for his own gain to try to make profit from his cartel business. He bombs and destroys his own halls and bases and killing his men and machinery.  “This time Milo had gone too far. Bombing his own men and planes was more than ever the most phlegmatic observer could stomach, and itr looked like the end for him” (269)  “They bombed all four squadrons, the officer’s club and the Group HEadquarters building. Men bolted from their tents in sheer terror and did not know in which direction to run. WOunded soon lay screaming everywhere” (267) (gives a little description on how it was)

 Page “Milo... every battle front”  Shows how much power and influence Milo had through his business and how he has bases and trading bases all over the map.  Page “Cut it out, will You...I don’t think you can shoot him”  Shows how much power General Dreedle thinks he has. He wants another officer to be shot just for a moan.

 Page “Yossarian and Orr were dripping wet...beautiful as a stock ticker before”  Shows how much power and influence Milo has in the world. He has so many ranks and positions as government official in numerous towns, cities, countries. It’s pretty absurd in the fact that he does all this.  Page “Are you crazy...disobey doctor’s orders”  The nurse says that because he is apart of the army, he is apart of the US and therefore the US owns him in a way (Catch-22 reasoning) so he has to do what the doctor says

 Page “Maybe sixty mission were...or six thousand”  The power Colonel Korn has is immense, he can increase the number of missions as much as he wants to his own advantage to make himself look good. Power = good for the one conducting the power, bad for the people suffering. He thinks that he can raise it to 6000 and so he would look good, but the people are going to suffer.
