Race Weekend Nutrition Strategies

Race Day Nutrition Race Day Nutrition Starts The Day Before Good Food Choices During The Day Practice Good Hydration

Race Day Morning Warm-up 7:30 to 8:50 ( M) Food Intake: Carbohydrate dominated early meal(5:30am) oz of fluid with early meal 7-10 oz of sports drink minutes before warm-up(some Carbs and electrolytes) Carbohydrate intake during Warm-up ( min grams ingestion**)

Post Warm-Up Maintain body heat (avoid chilling use of excessive clothing Use of dynamic Warm-Up(bands, muscle activation) Nutrition at this point is dependent on time of athletes events and how the athlete feels Solid vs liquid or gel(Choice will be dictated by time between events)

Race Events 12 & under events: longest event lasting roughly 6 min. 13 & over events: longest event lasting roughly 20 min with a lot of events of 5-10 min duration

Friday Preliminaries: 7:00 – 7:20 AM General Meeting (In the hospitality room behind the diving boards.) 7:30 – 8:50 AM Warm Up 7:35 AM Scratch Box closes for Friday Prelims and 500 Free 9:00 AM Events Start If you qualify for Finals and don’t want to compete in the event in the evening session you must scratch or declare your intention to scratch within 30 minutes after the qualifiers for finals in the event are announced. See the Meet Referee or his/her designee.
