Presentation transcript:

Once there was a large institution and it had it’s own rowing team…

The management of the institution arranged with another institution a boat race that will be held every year. Every team can have eight men.

The teams worked very seriously and very hard to be in the best shape. On the race day they were equally prepared. Despite that the other institution won by a whole kilometer.

FINISH

Our team was in a bad mood. The Board of Directors decided that they have to win next year. They organized a research team to find out what went wrong and to give recommendations for the next year.

After a close observation they found out that the other institution has seven rowers and one captain in the team...

...while our team had seven captains and only one rower.

Faced with a difficult situation like this, the management decided to call in a consultant firm to improve the rowing team.

After a few months of work the consultants came to a conclusion that there are too many captains in the team and too few rowers. They proposed a solution to the problem: The team structure must be changed!!!

From now on there will be only four captains in the team, they will have two bosses, a director and one rower. The proposal was made to give the rower better equipment and special rights.

Next year the opposing team won by two kilometers.

FINISH

The rower was kicked out immediately for not rowing good enough.

The captains, bosses and the directors received a reward for the effort, collective spirit and the results achieved in the preparations.

The consultants prepared a new analysis which has shown that the plan was good, the effort was excellent, but the equipment was inadequate. Now, they are making plans for the construction of a new boat…
