A Third Grade STEM Project Parachuting Frogs! A Third Grade STEM Project

Have you heard about these guys? They are BAD NEWS! We definitely can’t stop them, but maybe we can protect them…

You are now working for the BAD FROG PROTECTION PROGRAM! In groups, you will build a parachute to protect a frog on its wild adventures… (I hear they’re planning to sky dive over the White House.) You may test and improve your parachutes as many times as needed.

What is the Engineering Design Process? Ask Imagine Plan Create Improve

What materials may we use? Paper Tape Straws Plastic bags Craft Sticks Yarn Ask if you think of something else you need. Plastic frogs

To test a parachute, we will drop your frog from the top of a ladder. A great parachute will ________________________. An okay parachute will A not-so-good parachute will
