The Department of Important Inventions is looking for a few smart ladies and some hairy-chested men to save the world from vile villains who build dirty mean machines... and scurrilous scoundrels who make a mess. The Problem

To save our good earth, we must build a computer controlled, radical mechanical botanical garden complete with outrageous plants, exotic bugs, creepy worms and cuckoo birds grown from recycled, premium quality junk. Our Mission Amorous Frogs

To save our good earth, we must turn trash into treasure. Our Mission The Cuckoo

Team Introductions Fav’s … 1)Project 2)Hero 3)Hobby 4)Quote Least favorite thing to do … 30 Seconds!!!

1) Respect teammates:Did you share ideas, help someone or lead your team? 2) Respect your lab:Did you clean up, take care of tools and sort parts? 3) Don’t do stupid stuff:Did you do anything you would not want your parents or teacher to know? Law of the Lab

Consequences If you don’t follow the rules, you must apologize to your teammates: Strike 1 – Warning. Strike 2 – Parent must sign a note. Strike 3 - May be kicked off the team.

Extreme Building Multiple brains are better than one. Share ideas.

Let’s Make 4 Teams (2-3 members per team) Each team member will take turns keyboarding and building. The others will help by sharing ideas. The Duck Team

Garden Flowers and Critters Layout a collection of premium quality junk: Unusual playful shapes Colorful Light

Garden Flowers and Critters Pick an unusual shape and see if you can transform it into a flower by adding colorful beads, pipe cleaners and other craft materials.

Garden Flowers and Critters Try to make your sculpture look good from all directions. When building models, we have the advantage of 3 dimensions. Your design may say more if you use all three dimensions.

Garden Flowers and Critters The rare and delicate Orcabot Red Foamie sheet, colorful beads, sink drain, golf T, large bottle cap, electric wiring cap, pipe cleaner.

Garden Flowers and Critters The rare and delicate Orcabot Cut our 6”x1/2” red strips and hot glue the ends in a loop. Glue them to the drain. Wrap the pipe cleaner around a pencil and glue the stems and golf T to the bottle cap.

Garden Flowers and Critters The rare and delicate Orcabot Hot glue the beads to the petals. Hot glue the drain to the end of the golf T.

Garden Flowers and Critters The always hungry Frolicking Frog You’ll need pipe cleaners, bottle caps, red paper clip, beads, white cardboard or Foamies for eyes, and a sheet a green Foamies for the feet.

Garden Flowers and Critters The always hungry Frolicking Frog Hot glue 2 bottle caps together so they look like an open mouth. Glue the big feet on the pipe cleaner legs and the small feet on the bottle caps. Make BIG expressive eyes!

Garden Flowers and Critters The Belligerent Bionic Bug The plastic bag is good for bug wings although you can’t see them in the picture. Hook up wire makes great legs and antennae.

Garden Flowers and Critters The rare Temptation Rosebot Red felt, pipe cleaners, jacks, beads, green pencil, marker cap and bottle cap.
