The African bullfrog, or Pixie frog as it is often called (because of it's latin name- NOT because it's as cute as a fairy!), is one of the largest frogs in South Africa. It measures up to 9.5 inches (24 cm) and may weigh over two kilograms. It has a chubby body with a broad head, and has olive-greenish colored bumpy skin. The male usually has a yellow throat while the female's throat is cream. Only its hind toes are webbed. The female is much smaller than the male (12 cm or 4.45 inches), which is pretty weird, 'cause usually its the female frogs that are bigger!

Bony fish have a skeleton made of bone. Most are covered with bony scales.

: Stacking Fish Like Cordwood The horned puffin, a cliff-dwelling bird, swims after fishes in offshore waters. It attacks a school of herrings or anchovies from behind. As it swings its head from side to side, grabbing a fish in its bill, the food is stacked like cordwood -- with the heads pointed in alternating directions.

The alligator is a large, lizard- shaped reptile with a rough scaly hide and long, muscular tail. Young alligators have bright stripes and yellow blotches but as they mature, their skin becomes dark.. Temperament differences Crocodiles have watched humans grow up and understand humans can be food. Alligators don't normally eat people. Since they have been both isolated from humans for all but about 5 or 6 thousand years, they don't really understand we're on the menu, unless we teach them.

1.Name one of the largest frogs in South Africa 2.What are the specific characteristics of vertebrates? 3.Are humans vertebrates? 4.Why or why not? 5.Name at least 3 more vertebrates 6.Choose a vertebrate! Follow format for doing a research paper!
