Challenges: We had a lot of challenges, throughout the process of the Backbrella. Some challenges we had were…  The first umbrella we had broke  The umbrella was too tall  Another challenge we had was that the pvc pipes were too long.  Another challenge was that the umbrella handle was not staying in the pvc pipe.

How we overcame the challenges:  The first umbrella we had broke: We got a new umbrella.  The umbrella was too tall: The new umbrella we got was shorter.  Another challenge we had was that the pvc pipes were too long: We cut the pvc pipes, with a pvc saw.  Another challenge was that the umbrella handle was not staying in the pvc pipe: We hot glued the handle to the pvc pipe.

Learning: What we learned during this project was…  How to overcome challenges and find solutions  How to communicate better  How to become more creative  How to go out and buy new materials to use  How to make a DIY Backbrella

How learning was applied:  How to overcome challenges and find solutions: All of the challenges we had, we learned how to overcome, to make a better Backbrella.  How to communicate better: By going out and getting materials, we communicated who should get what.  How to become more creative: We thought of many ideas of how to attach the pvc pipe to the handle, like nailing and duct tape, but decided to use hot glu instead.  How to go out and buy new materials to use: We learned that we needed to go out to buy materials, that are needed fot our project.  How to make a DIY Backbrella

Failures:  The “Backbrella” not being stable ( it was very wobbly and didn’t stay on the persons back)  The umbrella broke  We wanted to take the easy way out, but we found out that that never worked, so we had to keep trying new ideas ( lots of them never worked)  The umbrella was too high up ( we failed measuring it correctly)

What we learned from our Failures:  To keep trying new things  That the easy way isn’t always the best way (try different things before all of the easy things)  We learned to plan ahead and make sure we have all the supplies needed and all of the measurements before you start constructing  We learned to work together, and learn from each other
