BES : Supply Chain Security topic 2: Technologies for inspections of large volume freight POCs: Henric Östmark, Anneli Ehlerding, Hans Önnerud, FOI, Swedish Defence Research Agency: Coordinator
Project idea Project idea: Developing/improving techniques for scanning freight containers for drugs, explosives, tobacco and/or chemicals. Systems should include Atomic property based (x-ray) and Evaporation based technologies. Threat analysis, End user requirements and scenario considerations X-ray scanner Vapor sampling, IR-spectroscopy and Mass spectroscopy Highly innovative techniques, incl. advanced Raman spectroscopy Specific challenge:The size of the containers and the request for speed makes scanning and selection challenging. Vapor sampling in the containers requires extremely low detection limits of the sensors. Outcome: Combinations of the techniques should be evaluated in different scenarios. The systems should reach TRL 7.
