However, real standards are only needed between companies. metadata (especially XML based) transformations are simple and well understood the problem with standards between institutions is basically: can you know, and capture up front EVERYTHING the other person is going to need to know.

David Novo De Novo Software Technology already exists Can already export Every statistic and metadata you deem necessary. Can export to any format you want (Excel, databases, XML) Small project is proposed to export gating information. In addition, Ryans group already made XML standard. Could easily export raw data directly to database. Can export saved analysis to databases. Can easily re-run analysis to get different results
